I did NaNoWriMo last year and wrote just over 50,000 words of a novel. It was my fifth try at it..please don't ask what happened to the other attempts. It's difficult to write 1667 words a day while ignoring the internal editor yammering in my ear. I found out just how much sleep I can do without. I've edited the novel, working title Deja Vu, only periodically over the last year, but I can safely say I've thought about it every day; the main character has gotten under my skin and wants the story told.
While the NaNoWriMo process was rewarding, I'm not going to do it this year. I'm going to do something else, something I've been meaning to do anyway for the last week/month/year. I'm going to write a blog post every day. For a month.
I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that this could be harder than last November's task.
It may be cheating, but I am counting this declaration as the first post. I left it too late today, and the combination of the Moscow Mule and a hot bubble bath I had this evening has left me feeling sleepy and lazy. Neither of which is any big stretch for me really.
